| The current Colt is Mitsubishi's best-selling car in Europe. 79,000 of the Mitsubishi supermini range were sold in Europe in 2005, the first full year of 3-door alongside 5-door production. Now workers at Mitsubishi's Nedcar unit in Holland are to have two one-day strikes this week following on a 1-day protest against restructuring plans last Friday. Mitsubishi says strikes will hurt the plant's chances for survival. Unions fear that Mitsubishi will cut a third of the workforce - around 1,000 jobs - after Daimler Chrysler announced plans to end the plant's contract to produce the Smart Forfour model. Mitsubishi says the real number will be closer to 300 The Japanese manufacturer says the plant will produce around 80,000 Mitsubishi Colts this year. Mitsubishi intends to maintain the plant as its only European production location and has vowed to produce the current Colt range in Holland until the end of its normal life-cycle.
